Nelson Mandela

Turning Points

  1. Whilst at university Nelson Mandela became increasingly aware of the unjust nature of South African Society. 
  2. The majority of Black South Africans had little opportunities either Economic or Political. 
  3. Mandela had to resign from the ANC and work underground.
  4.  in 1960 the Sharpeville massacre of 63 black South African’s
  5. However by 1962 Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Robben Island prison.
  6.  Although negotiations were painfully slow and difficult, they eventually led to Mandela’s release in 1990. It was an emotional moment watched by millions around the globe.
  7. Nelson Mandela recently lost his eldest son to this disease and Mandela has worked hard to campaign on this issue.
Achievements

  • However Mandela was able to finish his degree and qualified as a Lawyer. In 1952 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa. 
  • In Treason Trial Mandela and several others were Conducting their own defence they eventually proved to be victorious. 
  • In 1993 Nelson Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • He is one of the few politicians who have gone beyond a political role; he is widely admired and has received many prestigious awards. 
  • never compromised his political principles when offered early release.
  • However on 10 May 1994 Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa on and was President until June 1999.

     Cambridge English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy. The first section on Past and present is free.            ( If you want to do other tenses in this app, you need to buy it.) Do the 5 exercises in Unit 6 (Past Continuous),   then write a paragraph of 8 lines to say:


    • how useful this was for learning English and why
    • how easy the app was to use

    The 5 exercises in Unit 6 is easy for me and  I like this but i do not want  to use it again. I would like to learn something hard like a bit more challenge. However, this Unit  is  very useful for who are learning English for the beginners because it has lessons with explain and  exercises to do.

    British Council Learn English. Some parts of this app are free. Download the Professionals Podcasts series 1 then listen to Episode 3, an interview between two students talking about genetically modified food. Listen to the interview and answer the 6 questions in the exercise. After that, write a paragraph of 8 lines to say

    This apps was very useful for who are learning English and it is the best way to learn basic in English.
    It is helping me to improve my  listening skill and reading skill. It is best way to listen because they speak  clearly with correct pronunciation.  Also, it gave some important points to talking. Furthermore  it has activities to test your learning . It is so interesting because it has many listening episodes with different topics.  Each episodes have languages that people use their everyday life.  I would use it again and I will listen another episodes.

  • How often have kids experienced some sort of bullying on Internet?
  • Every time when kids use the internet.
  • What bullying is higher - the cyber bullying or school bullying?
  • The cyber bullying.
  • What does cyber bullying include?
  • Myspace, Facebook,MSN, email and mobile phone as well.
  • How do the bullied kids feel?
  • The bullied kids feel alone, overwhelmed by the amount of exposure online abuse can gain and     also  feel powerless to stop it.
  • How many kids have reported cyber bullying to adults?
  • One third of kids have told an adult about cyber bullying.
  • What help has been provided for cyber bullying?
  • They can get help from the website that they have been used it and get adult to help them to contact myspace, google,or whatever online service you are being cyberbullied on to let them know what is going on. They can talk to people you trust , family member or people in the school system about what is happening.
  • How do kids deal with the negative emotions as a result of cyber bullying?
  • In dealing with negative emotions as a result of cyber bullying, many kids develop great coping strategies and ways to manage their negative emotions.

    Internet Safety

    • Do many people agree to terms and conditions without reading them?Yes, many people agreed.
    • What happens when you click Facebook button?                             It's means you agree to a whole things and  you give permission for Facebook to collect and use your personal information.
    • Why are kids under 13 banned from most social media sites?   Because they want to protect the kids.
    • What is the reason for that restriction?                                         Kids under 13 could not make an informed decision about what personal information they should keep private online.
    • How some kids under 13 still use the sites?                                        By giving a false age.
    • What is the best way to protect children?                                        To teach them from an early age how to stay safe and private with online.
